The story

The Wave

After twelve days on Erra—and six weeks on Earth—Elsa Meijer wakes in Utrecht to cold gravity, eighteen missed calls and a sister who fears she is unwell. Her memories are extraordinary, but institutions demand evidence they can measure, own or contain.

As Elsa documents what happened, her account moves from private confession to scientific controversy and public spectacle. Doctors, universities, media, governments, opportunists and fellow witnesses pull at the story from different directions. Meanwhile, Anke must decide how to protect Elsa without taking control of her life. One woman’s impossible experience is becoming a wave.
